“The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” (2007) by American writer Sherman Alexietells the story of Arnold Spirit, a 14-year-old boy from the Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington state. He goes to an all-White high school – thus the “part-time Indian” of the title.
It won a National Book Award and yet is banned by some schools. It is that good.
